The history of Commonwealth projects is a reflection of adaptation
to changing markets.
Starting as an architectural and commercial contractor, Commonwealth
was very successful in building hotels, large commercial enterprises
and related commercial buildings. As the Canadian West grew and
particularly after the Second World War, there was rapid expansion
in mining, pulp and paper and related resource industries. To take
advantage of these new opportunities, Commonwealth bought several
companies and expanded its own skill set to become a full-service
industrial contractor.

In the past 30 years, Commonwealth has worked all over the world
delivering numerous pulp and paper, mining, power generation, heavy
industrial manufacturing and refinery projects. With its move into
the CH2M HILL suite of companies in 2007, the capacity to take on larger
projects was significantly expanded making Commonwealth one of the
premier construction companies in Western Canada.
