Ottawa Housing & Land Meetup — Ottawa CLT, Henry George Foundation of Canada, & Make Housing Affordable
On June 24, 2026, Common Wealth Canada held a Housing and Land Value Tax meetup in Ottawa in partnership with the Henry George Foundation of Canada, Ottawa Community Land Trust, and Make Housing Affordable.
Liam Wilkinson and Ken Yang of Common Wealth Canada debuted a Monopoly-themed interactive presentation (a reference to Lizzie Magie’s Landlord’s Game) as a new educational tool on the case for returning publicly-created land value back to the community, in order to level the playing field and make the housing system work better for all players.
Attendees then heard remarks from Dr. Francis K. Peddle, President of the Henry George Foundation of Canada; Mike Bulthuis, Executive Director of the Ottawa Community Land Trust; and Brandon Bay, former Chair of Make Housing Affordable.
